An exhibition addressing the current political climate towards women.

SOHO2O Gallery Chelsea is a non-profit artist run gallery that has been promoting the work of women artists since 1973 through gallery exhibitions and public programming.  This non-juried exhibition is open to both men and women artists working in all media.
Open Call: In response to the incredible increasing tension against providing women with basic healthcare needs and the ensuing media firestorm, which demonizes women, Soho20 Gallery Chelsea is hosting a venue for outrage. Backlash is in response to this ‘war on women’s basic rights and freedoms.’ We are accepting submissions of art that address this theme. Work will be accepted in order of receiving.
DEADLINE: Friday June 1, 2012 at midnight
ELIGIBILITY: Open to all artists. Must be 18 years or older.
ENTRIES: Open to all media.  Work must be 30×30 inches or less in any direction (including framing and/or video monitors).  30x30x30 for sculpture or 3D work.
*All entries that fit within the requirements and theme of the exhibition will be accepted! 
SOHO20 executive board will notify accepted artists by June 9th, 6pm. 
ENTRY PROCEDURE:  Applications must be uploaded online. Please include a brief artist’s statement (limit 500 words). Please include title, date, medium, dimension, price for each work submitted.  Payment will be accepted using PayPal via our website.  SOHO20 will accept only 1 entry per artist for exhibition. There is a $35 entry fee which must be paid via paypal when you submit your online application.
ACCEPTED WORKS: All work must be received ready for installation, including any hardware needed. Please include any specific instructions for hanging/installing if required. Video Artists are responsible for providing and delivering their own equipment including video monitor and headphones, (all audio will require the use of headphones).
Sculpture should have hardware for hanging if necessary.  SOHO20 has a limited umber of pedestals that will be used on a first come first serve basis.  Artists can provide their own pedestal for sculptural works, however they must be delivered to the gallery and arranged with SOHO20 staff ahead of time.
Work should be packed in reusable containers. Work that does not reflect the quality represented in the application may be rejected.
Work must be shipped or delivered to the gallery between July 13-16, between 12-6pm.
Pick up of work is August 17th & 18th, between 12-3pm.  All shipped work must include a pre-paid return-shipping label.
The gallery accepts no responsibility for work not retrieved by the deadline and will charge the artists $5.00 a day for storage. After 30 days the gallery may discard the work.
LIABILITY: Great care will be taken with work, but artists are responsible for insuring their own pieces as well as video equipment.  SOHO20 will not be responsible for loss or damage to any work or video equipment.  SOHO20 staff and volunteers will do their best to ensure a safe and proper installation of art work, but will not be held responsible for loss, damage or improperly hung art.
SALES: A commission of 20% will be charged on all work sold through the exhibition. Work need not be for sale.
