Judith Segall's: The Supper Party

Judith Segall with her Supper Party
It was with a feeling of excitement that we waited for Segall’s talk on Saturday at the Archetype Art Gallery. How could we not be exited when we know we are part of making, and continuing Art History? Thanks to people like Judith Segall(Creator), Christopher Hutchinson(Gallery Owner) and Ann Rowles(WCAGA Program Chair) that made this possible.
One of the questions Segall wanted to ask with this collection of work is what would make the man uncomfortable or offended? It turns out that there is just one penis work on this table that does just that. You will have to go and look at the collection to find out.
Segall does not look at the penis as an erotic sexual image of the male. Rather a symbol of Patriarchy or Masculinity. She topples the Head with humor in such a way that you want to know more and there are so much more this work than meets the eye.

Judith Segall talks about the fact that the goddess image was not enough to explain the  issues in today's society. She thought that the goddess image has been used to its fullest.

Let's get to know our members — weekly (Marti Hand)

Marti Hand sees herself as an artist and a registered nurse. They share the stage in her life equally. Surely the one inspires the other. As such, Marti Hand has a huge dimension to directivity in her work ranging from painting, design and sculpture.
Fingerprint portraitures that individualizes histories, events and people. Paintings exploring how bacteria, DNA and viruses influence not only the body but the mind and emotions as well. Her work is definitely worth a look or two or more, and you can do that at Marti Hand's Website
Her work is part of various private collections and public collections for example the Southern Regional Hospital, Riverdale, GA and the Clinical Resource LLC Company, Atlanta, GA.

Let's get to know our members - weekly (Yosafa Deutsch)

Yosafa Deutsch looks at the smallest part of all things organic and then shows how the smallest part is connected to the bigger and in the end how everything is connected to the universe around us. She also challenge the viewer to connect to the vastness of living and dying. One cannot live without dying, one cannot die without living. In the same sense one cannot have the internal without the external. She wants the viewer to confront the fear that goes with living and death and by confronting that she wants the viewer to find solace, peace and freedom.  Her work is thought provoking. Her work is sense provoking.
She has won various awards, one of them was the “Association of Women Faculty Graduate Student Award” at the Washington University in St. Louis. She has shown her work through out the country and has had a couple of solo shows. Please visit her website and read and see more about this exiting artist, Yosafa Deutsch.

"I'm in Love with this Idea" 2011 WCAGA Members show

We were all gathered in the Jim Cherry LRC Gallery, an art show curated by Don Dougan and organized by Barbara Regh. We are the woman of the WCA of Georgia and we like to share our art with everybody. We have thousands of years of life experience collected.
From doors that close and lead to more doors opening to walking down hallways and covering up that which is chosen not to be shown. Childhood memories that trigger the imagination to millions of roads traveled and traveled again, choices to be made at cross roads. Bodies and minds that mutate and evolve through adventures and experiences. Seascapes, Feathers, and Fantasy Characters to playfully tease your creativity. All this you find in this Art Show and more.
“I’m in Love with this idea” We all are and you will be too. You can find the artists' names in our previous post Members Show Listing Written
