Lets get to know our Members - Mona Waterhouse

Mona Waterhouse is an avid explorer of nature and all its mysteries. With the depictions of selections from nature she wants to find an equivalent for the diversity in life and nature. She concentrates more on pods, seed and leaves. She uses wax, pigment and handmade paper to create her art works. Her body of work consists of paintings, sculpture, wall objects, photographs and installations. She uses her senses, that of seeing(observe), and touch(feeling form) to become one with seeds and pods to create her work. Her sculptures and installations are strong and flexible although they look fragile and translucent.

Her work are part of collections at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, GA; Mcdonalds Corporate Office, WI; and the Tokyo Airport to name a few. Artist's Statement:
"Brave Hearts in the City are acrylic and oil stick paintings and embroideries exploring the desire for more courage (hearts) in the face of fear (staring eyes). They are part of the Harlequin Hearts series I started at the Hambidge Center in Rabun Gap, GA in November during a month-long retreat. Here are three pictures in chronological order. Number 1 is a study, numbers 2 and 3 are influenced by that painting. The fourth picture is one of the embroideries."
