The Bookworm Artist

Todays book is  Martha Wilson Sourcebook: 40 Years of Reconsidering Performance, Feminism, Alternative Spaces. This book is also available on AmazonThe book will be available at the end of October. As a Woman and an Artist I am still learning about Feminism and Art, everyday I try to find something that will be valuable as a student of art, feminism, and history. It is so easy to find information about all the male genius out there. More difficult to find accurate information about the female genius. When I saw this book I thought this is a jewel to have because it is a sourcebook. A collection of articles, documents and excerpts of publications from  artists like Simone de Beauvoir, Erving Goffman, Susan Sontag, Vito Acconci, Carolee Scheemann, Nancy Spero, Lynda Benglis and Lucy Lippard. Every one of these artists inspired Wilson in her work.

Martha Wilson can be seen at the PPOW Gallery in the Exhibition "I have become my own worst Fear". Read the Gallery's press release

Watch this video to hear Wilson Speak on the need for public funding specifically for confrontational art.

On a lighter side, watch her as Barbara Bush.

Kind Regards,
Corlia
