Lynn Mayes says she is the vessel through which the paint speaks and through which the painting takes on a life of its own. She uses the grisaille technique. Where she uses layers of oil paint on a textured base. The work is then finished with ink, foil, wax, metallic acrylic, metallic leaf and oil pastel.
Reviews on her Art can be found in various publications for example, The Atlanta Journal Constitution, and Atlanta Jewish Times. She is represented by Bobbe Gillis Gallery in Atlanta, Taylor Kinzel Gallery in Roswell, GA., and Slaymaker Fine Art Ltd in Chicago. Georgia Public Broadcasting ran a feature on Mayes in 2006 under “State of The Arts”.
Mayes studied at the Vanderbilt university in Nashville in Nashville, Tennessee. She studied with Phillip Lawrence Sherrod at the Art Student League in New York and in Greece at the Art School of the Aegean. Please have a look at Cerulean Fine Art Gallery for more art, and contact information.
