1. Who are you and what do you do, and what is your background?
My name is Aleta Aaron. I am an artist and a psychotherapist. I was born into a family of artists and have loved making art since I was a young child. I have been a psychotherapist for 30+ years working with individuals, couples and families. With gratitude, my career life as an artist and psychotherapist has evolved together over the years.

2. What's integral to your art and or art career?
When I sculpt I seek to capture the spirit and beauty of the human form by relying on the simplicity and purity of abstraction in my sculptures. My sculptures reflect inner dialogues, the complexity of the emotions.

3. What themes do you pursue and what medium do you use?
I primarily sculpt in clay, caste in bronze. I do enjoy dabbling some in painting, photography, wire art & create with whatever treasures I find around me!

4. What makes you angry, what makes you happy?
Someone expressing or acting disrespectful towards another upsets me. Spending time with my daughters and their family and pets, my husband, our families & friends, gardening, sculpting and creating art make me very, very  happy.

5. Who and what inspire you in your work and or in your life in general?
Among the people in my life who are an inspiration and inspire me is my mother, who is 90 years old. She is a sculptor who has worked in stone for many years and more recently in her late 80's returned to painting and drawing. She is an amazing woman and mother. I am also inspired through my work with clients. Thus, my art reflects upon matters of the heart.

Let's get to know our Members--Judy Parady

work in process from the Wall Jewelry series

Judy Parady started making jewelry at sixteen. Her fascination with making and creating turned into a necessity and a passion. This Passion is as much a part of her as breathing. She studied Jewelry Design and Silversmithing/Sculpture at the Georgia State University. She uses her knowledge from these studies to create jewelry, drawings, paintings and sculpture. One of these unique artworks are the “work in process.” The Dalton Gallery in Decatur, GA exhibited this work. One finds overtures of evolution in these creatures, creatures that form a spiral of life. Emotions of seeing without eyes, of touching with fragile translucent skin.

I am interested in finding the code, the answers, that are contained in the elemental. I want to know what is the least amount of information needed to express a concept, or experience; what is the fundamental essence of this physical world. I use sculpture and painting to express this exploration. Current work attempts to visualize the world of subatomic particle physics.--Judy Parady
Judy Parady is the WCAGA’s current President. She served as the secretary from 2005 to 2007. She is also a member of the Georgia Goldsmiths’ Group and the Society of North American Goldsmiths. She has been a part of the Art scene in Georgia and Atlanta since the eighties.  She is currently teaching Jewelry Making at the Spruill Center For The Arts

Lets Get to Know our members - Weekly (Chris Lewis)Don't let me fall

Chris Lewis had a successful career as a freelance Illustrator but then in the early 80’s decided to become a full-time Artist. She moved from the hard-edged glamorous world of Coca-Cola, American Express to the world of Clay... She says: “Creating sculpture was a natural outgrowth from advertising illustration. Although both professions are outlets for creative expression, illustration is inherently limited by the need to sell a product, whereas fine art allows the exploration of personal objectives.” (Artist’s website
Life, world and Nature dilemmas and dramas inspire her as an Artist. By creating art about and around these predicaments and vicious circles she comes to understand the situations better and then with her work, shares this understanding with the viewer.
Don’t Let Me Fall
Parking Lot Angel
Her “Anonymous Angels” series was inspired by Hurricane Katrina. Not only was her son in New Orleans around this time but they also had damage to their Condo. A couple of junk plastic she found among the debris became the wings of her first Angel.
Her “Addiction” Series was fueled by her son’s struggle with his drug addiction. The Struggle to accept this addiction, to overcome it and love one another. Her addiction work was on show at the Jim Cherry Learning Resource Center Gallery in 2010.
Chris Lewis’s work can be seen at the Swan Coach House Gallery in “The Summer Swan Invitational” Show.
