Correcting For Drift

Jim Cherry Learning Resource Center Gallery
by the Women’s Caucus for Art of Georgia
February 27 to March 30, 2012

Reception: Wednesday, February 29, 6-8pm

This WCAGA Member show will be a multi media exhibit showing 2D and 3D works from our
artists.  Leap year occurs every four years. It is the scientific means of correcting for a movement
in the heavens that requires adjusting our calendar occasionally to keep things aligned. The term
they use is Correcting for Drift.  How do we make our own Leap to make things work out?  Do we normally work large but occasionally make small work to adjust our perceptions?  Maybe we’re driven to try something unusual or alter our palette.

Sometimes we over correct and find a whole new path of possibilities. The heavens have their own
laws to follow, we are lucky, we get to make our own rules, especially when we are trying to make
something that has demanded we make a ‘leap’ to create a balance in our lives.

Two new Happenings for 2012 - Drawing 2012

drawings by Picasso, Matisse, Da vinci and Michelangelo

We certainly start off 2012 with a kick!

We have the Book Discussion on January 22 and the Deadline for the members Show submission on January 15. Now we are also going to take part in Sketchcrawl, a worldwide event on January 21. Then there is the WCAGA Drawing Marathon for 2012 deadline on January 30.

Barb Regh is putting together the Drawing Marathon Program for 2012 and needs to know if you are interested. It is a year long project that takes place at different locations and dates. You can be a hosting studio, where artists come over to your studio and draw. You can be a participant by being a marathon drawer. You can also be both a host and drawer.

Marilynn Brandenburger organized a the SketchCrawl #34 at the Atlanta Botanical Garden on January 21. You can come whenever you want to after the Garden opens at 9 am. The Artists meet at noon for a snack at the Metrofresh Cafe.

Drawing forms the foundation of art, whether you like to scribble on a napkin or make realistic emulations, or abstract marks on paper with pencil, charcoal, and pastel, please join us for the Drawing Marathon and the Sketchcrawl.

Contact details are available on the Calendar Page. Members also received email letters with more information. Please check out the mailchimp emails from WCAGA
