Calls for Art

The Importance of Being WILD
August 31-October 2, 2009

An exhibition in conjunction with Women in Labor Daze (WILD), a weeklong celebration of motherhood filled with music, art, theater, comedy and panel discussions dealing with topics important to mothers and all women. The symposium is sponsored by the Lower Cape Fear YWCA and the Women’s Resource Center at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. It will run September 1-6, 2009.

For The Importance of Being WILD exhibition, we are looking for work that examines and responds to the issues that women face and the choices that women make concerning motherhood.

Exhibition guidelines:
Submissions must be RECEIVED by August 3, 2009. This is not a postmark date.
•Open to all media.
•There are no size limitations with the exception of the space available for the exhibition. All work will be considered.
•Artists are responsible for delivery and pick-up of artwork. Work may be shipped but shipping costs to and from are the responsibility of the artist. Selected artists will be sent detailed instructions for mailing or hand-delivering accepted work.
•All work must be prepared for installation, including appropriate hanging devices and installation instructions.

Submit the following:
•Images of up to 3 works. Send at least 2 views of 3D work. Send images as .jpg files formatted for Mac. Label each file with the artist’s name and number that corresponds to image identification sheet.
•Image identification sheet with medium, dimensions and description if necessary.
•Artist statement with specific reference to the exhibition’s theme.
•Resume

Tri State Sculptors 2009 Annual Conference at Elon University, Elon, NC

The deadline for entering TSS exhibitions at Elon University has been extended - Submissions are due (NOT POSTMARKED) July 27, 2009

De-installation October 4 or TBA
*Works must remain on exhibit through the de-installation date.
